Candidates should submit the completed application form, a non-refundable application fee of US$ 40 (or 30 Euro), names of two people who know your character and your work that we may contact, and 12 slides, photos, or a CD of your recent work. CE applicants may include an essay in place of slides, although slides are preferable.
There are no application deadlines, but the program is small and space is limited; we recommend that you apply early.

Fees include classes in painting, drawing, and sculpture, studio space, studio space, room, three meals
a day, group trips, and ground transportation from and to Rome on the first
and last day of each session. The additional charge for a single room,
when available, is 100 Euro per week. The same fees apply for Independent Residencies taken during the School sessions. Residents may take advantage of classes as they choose,
and request faculty critiques.

All fees must be received no later than one month before the session begins. Fees are calculated in Euros and include 21% IVA (value-added tax). Please see the Currency converter for the latest rates.
Bring a friend to the program and you both earn a 5% discount:
2-week session: You and your friend pay 1900 Euro each instead of 2000 (100 Euro discount each)
3-week session: You and your friend pay 2565 Euro each instead of 2700 (135 Euro discount each)
6-week session: You and your friend pay 4750 Euro each instead of 5000 (250 Euro discount each)
Please send applications together, or if not possible, indicate the name of your friend in the space on the application form for how you heard about the school. You and your friend must enroll for the full session, no discounts apply for weekly stays.

To hold your place in the program, we ask for a 500 Euro deposit (or equivalent in US dollars) upon acceptance.
If you have to leave the Program early (6-week session), you are entitled
to a refund as follows:
Before session begins - Full refund less an administrative fee of 500 Euro
Days 1 - 7: 75% of tuition paid
Days 8 - 14: 50% of tuition paid
After day 14: no refund
If you have to leave any 3 or 4-week program early, you are entitled
to a refund as follows:
Before session begins - Full refund less an administrative fee of 500 Euro
Days 1 - 7: 50% of fee paid
After day 7: no refund
If we cancel a session you are entitled to a full refund of fee paid.
Marjorie Portnow
Educated at Western Reserve University, Pratt Institute, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Marjorie Portnow received her masters of fine art at Brooklyn College. Elected to membership in the National Academy of Design in New York City, she also teaches there and at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. She has been visiting professor at many colleges and universities in America. For may years she showed with the Fishbach Gallery and recently had a one person show at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. Her work appears in almost all the major museum exhibitions of American landscape painting including: The Landscape in Twentieth-Century American Art (Selections From The Metropolitan Museum of Art); Landscape Painting (1960-1990) (The Italian Tradition in American Art), and books in which her work appears include John Arthur's The American Landscape Tradition Since 1950 and Alan Gussow's The Artist as Native (Reinventing Regionalism). She has received fellowships to Yaddo and the Mac Dowell Colony and innumerable awards including The Hassan Purchase Prize from the American Institute Academy of Arts and Letters: National Endowment of the Arts, Ingram Merrill Grant, Tiffany Grant. Her many collections include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; The Sheldon Art Museum, The National Academy of Design, The Graham Gund Collection, The Jacob Kaplan Collection Citibank Corporation of North America, and The AT&T Collection.
